Anniversary Award - Best Paper by a Postgraduate Student

In 2021, Central European Journal of International and Security Studies (CEJISS) celebrates the 15th year of its existence. To mark this anniversary, we initiate a call for submissions – the 15th anniversary award for the best paper by a PhD candidate, a postgraduate (Master’s) student or a recent graduate.

Current postgraduate (MA or PhD) students or those who finished their MA or PhD studies in 2020 or 2021 are eligible to submit any previously unpublished paper in the field of International Relations or International Security. The submissions may be based on conference papers or PhD/MA dissertations.

The key criteria for evaluation are related to the submissions’ originality and scientific (academic) quality, including the strength of the argument, theoretical (methodological/analytical) framework and empirical evidence.

The winner’s paper will be published in the December issue of CEJISS in 2021. All the shortlisted finalists will be provided with an extended feedback in the form of two reviews by external experts. Should they wish, the shortlisted finalists can elaborate their manuscripts in accordance with the provided feedback and their manuscripts can be published in the journal in 2022.

  • Deadline for submissions: 1 September 2021
  • Announcement of the winner and the finalists/runners-up: 30 October 2021
  • Publication of the awarded paper: 17 December 2021
