The Institute of International Relations Prague (IIR) is looking for candidates for the Project Coordinator Position in CLOSER Project.
The Institute of International Relations Prague (IIR) is an independent public research institution that conducts excellent academic research in the larger field of international relations. It is established by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic. The IIR's mission is to conduct internationally recognized, excellent basic and applied research in the field of international studies, contribute to the formation and conduct of Czech foreign policy, and increase awareness of international relations issues among both professionals and the general public. The institute is an active member of several international research networks. Located in the historical centre of Prague, its venue and library provide a stimulating environment for scholars and students of international relations.
A full-time position of Project Coordinator is to be filled at the Institute of International Relations Prague (IIR), within the CLOSER project, funded by the European Research Consortium (ERC). This interdisciplinary project aims to explore social cleavages and party politics in the post-Ottoman space of the Middle East and North Africa.
The position is to be filled at IIR in a team of political scientists. CLOSER also encompasses two other teams: historians working at the Oriental Institute of the Czech Academy of Sciences, and geographers at Brussels Free University (ULB). Based at IIR, the Project Coordinator will be responsible for the coordination of the whole project and will also have to work with the researchers and the administrative teams of the three institutions.

Description of the position
The Project Coordinator will be the interface between the project teams and the administration of the three host institutions:
- will assist the Principal Investigators (PI) with preparing regular financial reports and reports of activity.
- will keep track of the three budgets and collect all the bills, invoices, and other relevant documents.
- will report the team members’ activity; she/he will be the main interlocutor of the team members for all logistic issues (book ordering, purchase of hardware and software, fieldwork and organization of travel, publication costs, organization of workshops and symposia).
- will stay up-to-date regarding the relevant legislation and European regulations.
- will prepare, together with the PIs, meetings with the European institutions.
- will be one of the main interlocutors of the Independent Committee of Ethical Advisors (ICEA).
- will contribute to identifying future calls and to supporting future applications building on the CLOSER project and its results.
- will contribute to the Institute’s good-practice development in externally funded project management in cooperation with the project support department.
Conditions of eligibility
- Previous experience with scientific project management.
- Completed Master’s degree in economics, business administration, law, or a related field before September 1, 2026.
- Fluency in Czech and in English (both written and spoken). Working knowledge of French would be a plus.
- Capacity to work in a team.
- Role is fully on-site in Prague.

Gross salary: 55,000 Czech crowns/month
